Setting up free email accounts is easy. I personally like to have at least two working emails and from my point of view if you have more than one account it is good to have free email account. I have Yahoo and hotmail free email accounts and I am fully satisfied with the service they provide. Apart from these two, I also have an email account with my cable Internet provider.
For routine emails I mostly use my hotmail account as it is the right place to do online shopping and casual interactions. My free email account in hotmail has a fun name showing my general attitude about the messages I send from there as they are all amusing and chatty. I especially like my hotmail account because it provides a wonderful anti spam feature. This anti spam is so great because it puts unwanted email into a junk folder and doesn’t block your inbox.
I use my Yahoo free email account for some more serious communications such as contacting my online learning instructors or doing my freelance writing assignments. I chose a more serious name for my free email account in Yahoo as it relates to the messages that come from my account which are studious and proficient. This account also has a good anti spam feature that keeps possible junk mail away from my inbox folder.
As I mentioned above, my third free email account is with my high speed cable Internet provider. The cable company I chose offers free email account to its customers. These accounts are suitable for keeping messages for friends and relatives. I hardly ever give my high speed cable email account to anyone, so I have no spam and few messages. In case I used this account more and got more messages in it, then I would take advantage of the anti spam feature my cable internet company offers and it would stop unwanted junk mail.
Nowadays everyone should have an email account. Most of the people have one or more email accounts. There are some people willing to pay for the service but you can easily save some money by conducting a little research and set up reliable free email accounts. If you chose to have several email accounts you would be able to organize your messages into different categories for family and friends, for work and other.
If you’ve been out there building links to your website for some time now, you may be wondering how many of your links have actually been picked up by the search engines. This is a very legitimate question to have! There are several different things you can do to find out how many backlinks have been picked up by a search engine, but today we’re going to focus on how to check how many backlinks Yahoo! says that you have.
Before we get started, you need to keep in mind that you may have built more links than Yahoo! shows you. That’s the nature of things with search engines. Your links aren’t picked up the same time they are created. Also, these will only be the links picked up by Yahoo!, Google and the other search engines probably have a different number as well.
So let’s get started on how to check your backlinks with Yahoo!.
First, go to Yahoo.com and click inside the search bar. In the search bar you need to type in site:www.yourdomainname.com, replacing the sample domain name with your own of course. Then hit enter or click on “Web Search”. This will take you to a page in Yahoo! called the Yahoo! Search Site Explorer.
If you go down the page just a little bit, you’ll see where it says “Results”, and right below that it says “Pages (number) | Inlinks (number)”. “Pages” tells you how many pages Yahoo! has found in this website, and “Inlinks” tells you how many links are coming to the site. But we need to filter this a little bit. So go ahead and click on the tab that says “Inlinks”.
Once you click on “Inlinks” you’ll see two drop down menus. By default they will say “From All Pages” and “Only this URL” respectively. This is how we are going to filter the information. The problem is that the number we see right now also includes when we are inter-linking on our own website. In fact, if you scroll down and look at some of the listings, you may see your own website on the list. Well, for backlinks we don’t care when we’re linking to ourself, so click on that first dropdown menu and choose “Except from this domain”. This will take all of the links from your own site off the list and just leave the links from other websites.
Once you do this the page is going to refresh and the number next to “Inlinks” will most likely drop. Now we move to the next box that currently says “Only this URL”. If we leave it like this we’ll see just the links that are coming to the home page. But if you want to see how many links are coming to the entire site, we need to change this second drop down menu to say “Entire Site”. At this point the page will refresh again and the numbers should change next to “Inlinks”.
Now you have the number of links that Yahoo! has found that are coming back to the website. If you want to get more information about these actual links you’ll need to go down the list and click on some of them. See if you can find your link on the page they are referencing and see what phrase is being used as your anchor text. I wouldn’t spend a ton of time doing this, but it’s a very easy way to see if your links are getting picked up by the search engines.
I am often asked the question: How do I change my home page to google? It is a very simple process to change your home page on your browser. Most people use either Internet Explorer or Firefox, now, so the following steps will help you change your home page in either browser you are using to Google.
If you are using Internet Explorer:
Launch Internet Explorer Click on the “Tools” tab. For IE 7, it is now located on the right hand side of the screen A pop up window will open Click on the “General” tab Where it says “Home Page”, then type in the Google website address Click OK
If you are using Mozilla’s Fire Fox:
Launch your Fire Fox browser Click on the “Tools” tab. It will be at the top of the screen Scroll down and click on the “Options” button A pop up window will open Click on the “Main” tab At the top of the window, you will see a “Start up” section Ensure the section: When Firefox starts – says “Show my home page” In the blank below, then type in the Google website address Click OK
The above method is what I do if I want to change my home page to Google. And this can actually go for any other website as well. Just follow the same steps, and change the website to whatever website you want. Now, if your home page changes unexpectedly, then you have spyware or some other program on your computer making this happen. Only you should be the one to change your browser home page.
